THE World Tourism Alliance was launched in Chengdu, China this week during the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s 22nd General Assembly, bringing together representatives from 137 countries including Australia.

Initiated by China, the organisation was founded by the chairman of the China National Tourism Administration, Li Jinzao and aims to push the global tourism industry forward and further facilitate cooperation around the globe.

Headquartered in Beijing, the WTA is a “comprehensive, non-government and non-profit international tourism organisation,” Jinzao said.
